BOOK DESIGN // Parnassus 2014

Designed with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign for Taylor University’s art and literary journal, Parnassus. All visual and written artworks are copyright their respective owners. Three photos in this selection are my own.

As a new member of the Parnassus staff, I wanted to breathe new life into a publication with a reputation for quality artwork but that often used only the most basic design skills. Still, the design needed to remain clean so it would not distract from artists’ work. The layout needed to display visual art, poetry and prose in addition to artist statements and biographies in a cohesive and attractive book.

My responsibilities also included selecting a theme and submissions for the book with the rest of the staff and communicating about the production process with the editor-in-chief, adviser, publisher, and student artists. Skills used: Graphic design, layout, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, editing, photography, organization, communication.
